PROJECT DAY TWO- AND GRIPPING

Well, project day two has come and gone.  Finally the hallway is dry and Mom decided to wait until the humidity is gone before she applies a second coat.  The utility room floor dried last night, it only took 3 days or so...........wow!  Again, she must wait to apply more.  It does look nice and shiny and clean.  Mom said the real test will be us and Dad.

The kitchen walls are painted and so are the cabinets.  Mom took yesterday afternoon off and the grandboy who is 11 and a better painter than Mom helped.  A LOT!!!!  He climbed the ladder to the high high heavens of our walls to get in the corners, he sat on top of the refrig. ...you know all those dangerous things Grandma's are not supposed to let their grandchildren do.  As it has dried we see area's that will need touch ups but at least she has made some headway......Mom might try to paint the kitchen floor tonight or mow....its a toss up....only one more day and dad will be home ...whooohehehheh......we will post pictures tomorrow....maybe.

We are so upset about some things...so if you don't want to hear gripping just turn our post off now.  First an update on our Macey.  Still waiting.............yes she is still waiting on her compression hose...........all these months..............tomorrow she see's her Doc. again to be re-measured and hopefully re-ordered through a different company!!!   The first company bowed out about three weeks ago, after she has waited and waited...because of the size etc............fitting a child is apparently something no one on Earth or Iowa is talented enough to do.  Of course Macey doesn't really care because she is little and doesn't understand the importance of them.  So things are at a standstill for her.  No PT because without the hose it can be more dangerous for her with the movement of the fluid.  Apparently even good insurance isn't worth much.  We ARE disgusted.

Yesterday Mom had her follow up checkup after her surgery last week.  Apparently when her Dr. came and told Dad and me that everything was fine and they removed JUST the tumor she mistakenly told us INCORRECT.  I am still trying to spin my brain around how a Dr. can walk out of surgery and tell us things that were wrong?????  Mom did have to have lymph nodes removed because they found more cancer ....................we were told NO lymph nodes were removed because they were cancer free.  So now her plan of action has changed and the worse thing is the Dr. that Mom felt so safe and confident in, has made her feel less.   We are still just shaking our heads.

Its not good when you lose all confidence in the people you trust to take care of the ones you love....................not good.

Deb

  1. It's great that you had such a fabulous helper on board and I'm sure together you will get pawsome results. I'm sad to read that the Dr. told you wron things... it's not just a cold or an easy thingy, it's essential to know exactly what they did and what they will do...
And I'm sad that your Macey has to wait again now... I hope so much that good things come to you now to.

  2. I am so sorry that Macey is getting the run around. Bless her heart, enough is enough. Also, I know the frustration and anger that you are experiencing with your Mom. Our generation and older were taught that physicians were right up there with your mama and your preacher. Things certainly have changed. God bless you all.

  8. Deb, I'm so sorry for everything your Mom is going through. Like you say, Macey is young and probably could care less but it's still such a shame that these doctors and places where they make the hose, and even the insurance company can't get their act together. (Please don't get me started on insurance companies!) LOL Regardless, my prayers are always with you and your family. Now...about that painting project. Can't wait to see the pictures! :)

  9. You are right, that is ridicules that the doctor would have given the wrong information! Maybe if she hadn't just walked out of surgery it would be more understandable. We can understand your emotions over this and we would feel the same. We are soory as this is another thing you do not need! And we sure hope Macey gets that compression stocking pretty soon. If they are custom made then it shouldn't be a problem. Now, about this home project. Is this a surprise for your dad? Oh, we hope the unveiling goes well and that no grand kids get hurt in the process!

  10. Do let us know when that humidity is gone - we don't think it will be disappearing from here for a long time.

Glad to hear about all the progress with the projects, but what a major bummer on the medical front. We hope a new company is much more responsive on that stocking for Macey. And poor Grandma - today's doctors just aren't what they once were. Mom blames it all on the state of insurance.

  11. How frustrating to have the answer for Macey but still cannot get what she needs - makes no sense. And we are sorry things are not what you had thought for your Mom. Sending prayers and hugs

  15. I am so sorry to read about the medical problems. I understand and I feel your pain. I will say a prayer for all of you. It is unbelievable that you weren't told the correct results. It is frightening, who can we trust?? God bless you all

  16. What a total bummer on the medical issues! Sometimes it seems to me that doctors nowadays just aren't the same as years ago (and just don't care). And the insurance companies just don't care if you get what you need. I'll be praying for your mom and little Macey.

Anyway, I'm glad your projects are coming along. Hope it all turns out the way you want (especially with those 3 fabulous puggie helpers, lol). :-)

  17. Sigh about the medical problems. It shouldn't be so hard! They can make an artificial leg for a rooster, why can't they make a special pair of hose for a little girl! I don't even know what to say about the whole cancer thing . . . . . . . . . . .

Glad the painting went well and can't wait to see it.

  18. That's terrible that the dr. didn't tell your dad the truth, straight up. I hope that everything is okay, and that the new plan isn't too tough.

And, I'm so sorry about Macey's travails with those compression hose. How hard can it be? I don't blame you for being mad.

I'm glad that grandma and grandboy had such fun painting together!

  19. So disappointing. Cannot believe the hose problem. We thought it was all taken care of. AND getting wrong information...we're barkless.

However, does grandboy want a painting holiday in Australia? We could use the help.

  20. Wow you are ambitious with your projects. Especially in the heat of summer!

I can't believe she still doesn't have the compression hose! And I just don't understand how the doctor could give such wrong info! It is awful to not have confidence in him anymore. Ugh. Sending good thoughts for all of you!

  21. What is wrong with our medical community? Our hospitals all have these hospital doctors who see you in the hospital only ~ they don't know your history from Adam and they care even less about you, they just want to discharge you so they look good in the eyes of the boards on the hospital. Our own private doctors in many cases don't even have hospital privileges anymore. Lee now calls on her specialists to see her in the hospital even if it is not their speciality to get a fire set under the hospital doctor's feet. Oh we are praying for some really good luck to come your way.
    Thanks for being a friend
