DIETZMAN LONG

THIS  is Mean Ole Cat Dietzman and he lives with us Pugs here in Iowa.  Some of you may not know anything about him, but others of you have heard our terror stories of him.  We don't usually write a lot about him cos he scares us to death and we just like to pretend he isn't roaming around our house.

We would like to be friends wif him but he hates us and every chance he gets he tries to hit us in the eyes.  Mom says its cos we are to rough and rowdy wif him  and it hurts his old bones.  Well, last night wesa were tucked in our beds, alone, wifout our mommy and daddy and guess who is sleeping in their warm bed, yep Mean Ole Cat Dietzman.  He NEVERS sleeps with anyone, he sleeps on the back of the couch so that ways he can scratch our visitors necks, which probably explains why we nevers has company.

Yesterday it was below zero all day long, so Dietzy decided if hes wanted to be really warm he was gonna haf to compromise his morals and sleep with the humans.  Now Moms black comforter has orange hair all overs it but hers said that hers didn't care.

See Dietzy's onliest job here at our house is to be the prison guard whenevers we are outside in our Alcatraz. He does a really good job impersonating the most horriblist prison guard there is also.

Mom said we needs to remembers that Dietzy is 17 years old.  She said he was a gift to her baby girl at a when their life was having some hard struggles.  Dietzman's littermates had been sold and he was the only kitten left.  Dietzman is a purrshun so he has some weird little characteristics. Anyway someone heard about moms baby girl and called up to see if she would like this kitten for FREE.  So mom drove to get him.  He was a terror from the moment she put hims in the car, and he still is.  They got him right around Christmas time and Mom came home from work and all of her glass ornaments she had brought back from Germany were broken on the floor and Dietzy was a sitting in the tree like a little owl.  The girls were laughing and laughing and mom said that laughter was the best thing she had heard in a long time.  When Mom moved in with our Dad Dietzman came wif her so he was the first four legger kid at Dad's house.  It took Dietzy about one weeks to like Dad  and afters that it was okay.

The others cats in the neighborhood hated Dietzman cos he was snotty to them and often beat him up.  Mom tried to tell him to be more kinder but Dietzman didn't and still doesn't understand that word very well.

So anyways last night he was laying down by OUR mom and hers was petting him and he was a purring, and she could feel how fragile he felt.  She petted him for a long long time, cos she could tell he was enjoying it so much.  This morning when hers got up for work, Dietzman always jumps off the couch for his breakfast, cos he finks he needs to eat before us pugs.  No Dietzy.  Mom panicked and looked all overs the house for him, upstairs, and behind the couch, and just when hers was getting real worried she went into theirs bedroom to wakes our Dad up and there was MEAN OLE CAT DIETZMAN laying right beside ours dad a sleepin away.

Mom smiled.

  1. This is a wonderful story. You do a great job writing stories Stella Rose! We are glad we do not have a mean cat living with us who wanted to scratch our eyes. Maybe you can wear safety goggles when you are around him?

  3. As you know Miss Stella, I have a hard time understanding why our dear Lord allowed cats to be on this planet and Mean Ole Cat Dietzman personifies why I feel that way; but, your story about how he made your mom feel good at a tough time makes me give him a pass. Try and respect him for making Mom feel good and ignore him the best you can.

    Love,
    Gampy

  9. Stella - never underestimate the power of a purr. Our Shadow is a bit "cranky" too but there are days she just needs a little TLC (or snugglin' on a pillow). Dietzman just needed a bit of human TLC :)

  12. We live with a cat too, her name is Pumpkin, but she isn't mean. She was raised with Ryder and Kori, and our mom thinks that is why Pumpkin acts a little odd for a cat. But even though she is a little odd, like how she likes to play chase with all of us, she is pretty cool...for a cat.

  14. Cats are really different creatures as you've clearly explained. My parents had cats when I was a baby but one tried to swipe my forehead-I had a big birthmark(it could have been a serious injury) and that made my parents get rid of them. Since then I've always been allergic to them and get asthma from them so don't have any. I guess because yours is soooo old, you have to be tolerant with him. Just stay out of his way.
    Happy New Year!!!!

  15. Mean Ole Dietzy sounds a little like our Baggy. Although if we are gentle, Baggy will let us be near him. (He doesn't want us to tell you that he let Phod snuggle him last night). We would like to hear more about your cat. Lee and Phod who live with 2 very old cats

  16. Howdy Mates. Our sissy cat Penny is kinda old too. She's 14 and can be grumpy but mum says we have to leave her in peace. She gets to sleep on mum and dad's bed or any darn bed she wants to which we think is totally unfair. Butt, we reckon if ole cat Dietzman makes your mum smile then he must be a good bloke at heart. See ya mates. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

  17. Ya know, he looks mean! No wonder he was the only one left! Bummer you have to live with him and be kind. But he is 17, so you have to make exceptions. Sleeping on the big bed might be one of them.

  18. He DOES look like a mean ol' kitty, that fur sure! Mean or not, your story sure was nice to read. Maybe he's not so much mean as just old and grouchy, and he just needs more pets. Just on his terms, of course!

  24. Hi Stella Rose
I can see that scary look at Dietzy's face! But I have a feeling the sound of that purring really means he has lots of happiness inside him. Maybe he's not as grumpy as he used to be- do you suppose?
It made me smile to read he was sleeping with dad!

  25. Mama was holding her breath the whole time we read this to her .. she was afraid something bad happened to him! Thank God he is okay ...

Mama had a kitty when she was a kid. Her name was Samantha. She lived a long time, too (about 15 years). Then mama had another kitty who died before we were born. His name was Bailey and he died when he was almost 12 - from cancer. Mama still misses him!

  29. Hi Stella, Maggie & Gussie- your kitty brother sure looks good for 17. I had an orange kitty too when I was growing up. He loved our male dog and thought he was his mama. They slept together and ate together. It was adorable.

  31. Mean Ole Cat Dietzman and our Twinkie sound kind of similar. Our mommy gets scared too, when she can't find Twinkie. Twinkie is 18. Kitties are different, but super special in their own kitty way.
