Our cousin Charlie Mom and Dad (our grandpa and ma) has a new big bed. The problem with the bed is it is MUCH taller than the bed he used to sleep in wif them, and Grandpa and ma are worried he is going to hurt his back or little short legs jumping off the bed. I guess yesterday he fell off of it twice. Grandpa rigged up something to help him down for the time being, but Mom wanted us to ask if any of our friends used doggy ramps and what kind you use.
The ones mom has looked at appear to be very steep and she is worried Charlie will not walk down it. Any ideas??? Stellie Rose
maybe a ramp like the idaho pugs have in their bedroom? it looks great and maybe Charlie will like it too?

ReplyDeleteStella Rose, check the Solvit Products Bedside Ramp for pets. You can see it here http://www.solvitproducts.com/page/info/wood-bedside-ramp. My Aunt Linda has one for one of her dogs and he loves it...actually all her pets love it and use it all the time. BOL
ReplyDeleteMy peeps used to haf a little wicker stool for previous paws Mia to climb up on to the bed wiv. It was a very nice tasty, chewable wicker stool so it has now been removed....or rather what was left of it was removed so the peeps can't recommend it....Butt I recommend haffing a nice stool for to chew on Maggie Mae!

With Lady's small angel dogs she never had anything. We have no problem with the bed. Hope someone can help.
ReplyDeleteThe Idaho Pugs have a wonderful ramp that they use. I am sure she will send you a photo as soon as she sees this post. We have used stairs before. To get the tall stairs, 3 steps, it costs about $40. We also use a small foot rest that is next to the bed that they use to jump up and down.

we sure hope they find something that works
ReplyDeleteBOL! We see that Easy has already pointed you to our ramp in the bedroom. You may remember that our Dad built it for us. We also have a ramp on the side of our deck to the yard that Dad built also. Bailey & Hazel always use the bed ramp up and down. Mom wishes that I would always use it too but sometimes I prefer to jump up or down from the bed. Bailey always uses the deck ramp. He can be right by the steps and he will go around to the ramp to come up

Mabel
Bailey & Hazel too
We have a friend who has doxies. She has a ramp for them to get up onto the bed and the chairs so they don't hurt their backs.
ReplyDeleteYes, we bought one from Bed Bath and Beyond. It's the doggy stairs. The girls were never too keen on them tho! But they do work! You just have to use a lot of patience training them on them.
ReplyDeleteAngel Sasha used to use a ramp of some kind. I think it was ordered.
ReplyDeleteAs for ME...I'm a cat...mol I don't need a ramp I can jump like a champ even at 13!
Hugs madi your bfff
We don't have ramps, sorry. SHE gave a scottie to an aunt and uncle (in their eighties) when SHE came to Oz. They actually put their mattress on the FLOOR, so the dog could get on and off easily!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Stella... my pug Angel used the doggie stairs from Bed Bath & Beyond. It had a padded fleecy-like cover. Only took her a few days to get used to it. Hugs.
ReplyDeletePatty
Mya used to use the fleece covered "As Seen On TV" stairs. You can also order them through the Harriet Carter catalog (online or in your mail). *ear licks* Noodle
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you're getting lots of great suggestions☺
ReplyDeleteI have stairs and mom used treats to teach me how to use them.
ReplyDeleteAroo to you,
Sully
I don't know anything about doggie stairs, as so far I've had no need to have any. Thankfully, looks like many of our other Blogville residents have an idea or two on them! Sorry I'm no help with this inquiry.
ReplyDeleteDad got something like this for Charlie a little dog he and my StepMom had. http://www.wayfair.com/Pet-Gear-Easy-Step-II-2-Step-Pet-Stair-PG9720CC-PGI1017.html
ReplyDeleteWe see you have some great suggestions here. We know some one of them will work. Mom says she would be worried about Charlie jumping down too. No worries here for us since we don't get to sleep on the humans' bed:( BOOOO
ReplyDeleteWoos - Ciara and Lightning
Our Daddy built us a ramp too, but we know there are a few out there along with step stairs too!
ReplyDeleteGood Luck!!

Does your Grandpa and Grandma want him to get down. If not you could try a leash on the headboard and (very important) a harness so he can't jump down
ReplyDeleteI have a ramp and we love it. We got it from Chewyland, it is called "Gen7Pets Mini Indoor Ramp. There is a nice carpet and Mommy can take it off and clean it if she needs to. I hope Charlie can find something
ReplyDeleteZiggy Out!
We used a set of steps for our pugs... they used it all the time! It just went to the couch, though, so I don't know about a bigger bed. We got it at Bed, Bath and Beyond, isn't that funny?
ReplyDeleteCan you just find a footstool or ottoman a little lower than the bed and put it next to it as stairs? If he could jump up on the old bed but the new one is just too high, that's a good stopgap without having to buy doggie stairs.
ReplyDeleteWe have a ramp that is perfect
ReplyDeleteLily & Edward
I hope you find the perfect ramp!!
ReplyDeleteIt will save legs and backs , for sure!
