Dietzy Friend: You can give it to Butch and Stella for Christmas!
Mom: No.
Dietzy Friend: Its time...Sammy would want stella to be smiling again.
Mom: No.
Dietzy Friend: She is arriving at my house this evening.
Mom: So.
Dietzy Friend: I thought you guys could come see her tonight.
Mom: No.
Dietzy Friend: Its time, its healing and she needs a home.
Mom: No.
Dietzy Friend: There is no rule book on how long a person has to grieve before you move on. Its time.
Mom: Its time for me to get off the phone with you. (My MOm is so witty!)
Dietzy Friend: Well if Mohammand won't come to the mountain than the mountain .......
Mom: I am working real late.
Dietzy Friend: I will see you around 5:30.
Mom: No.
Mom has this real dietzy friend who loves us alot. She tries to help us in really weird funny ways. Mom has known her since 4th grade, and that was a LONNNNG time ago. Mom always acts tough around her, kinda like mean ole cat dietzman but she just keeps coming back. Mom is worried she is gonna do something real STUPID like bring a puppy to our house. Dad is a sucker for puppies, Mom is gonna have to be really really tough with both of them. Mom says she needs to see me smile.....I said the same thing about Mom.

I think some new puppy love might help the healing Stella. See what your mom thinks and check the puggy out. The SousPug has his paws crossed that all goes well!
ReplyDeleteI think that a new sibling will be a very good thing for your whole family... BUT only when it's TIME. Only you can know when it's the right time FOR YOU, so don't let anyone pressure you before it's time! If this IS the right time, then yay! But if not, I've got your back! Do you need me to growl at them?
ReplyDeleteAs long as you are not expecting the new puppy to be LIKE the other pups, I see a new pup as a loving distraction from a loss. No matter what, I am sure you will make the right decision.
ReplyDeleteYou know what, life is strange and sometimes things happen. Think with the heart not the head. That is how I came here. My peeps if she had any sense would not have held me outside the front door and look what we both would have missed. Just go with the flow. They upstairs do a lot of planning. If it is not supposed to be it won't be. trust in fate. Love.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
It sounds like your mom has a very insensitive friend. Stella, you totally have my permission to bite her if she shows up with a puppy. One should not acquire a puppy if one is not prepared to keep it oneself.
ReplyDeleteI think your friend is just trying to make you feel good again, but she has to respect your feelings. Don't feel pressured to get another dog or not. You will know when it's the right time.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Christy
It is a whole family decision. I do believe when the time is right it will happen and no one can pressure you to say when that is. I know that us dogs can help help a broken heart, but we should never be used to "replace" the ones you have loved (and still love). We will be praying for you this evening for the guidance of love to show you the way.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
Wesa thinks that maybe your mamas furiend should adopt the puppy and then you and the puppy can have play-dates. Definently think your mamas friend meant well, but her meaning well come off as unsympathetic...because it is up to you and your mom to decide when you FEEL that it is time to stop mourning and start living your happy life once again. That is something that can not be forced...even if puppy kisses are on the other side.

Well now.... THIS is going to be very much... Interesting. A war of the Wills ... Be sure to not sniff the Puppy Breath... THAT could be the topper on the cake. Either Way... it will end up being... what was meant to be.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if my two cents matter here....but you know what I went through with my Lad. If I didn't have my other collies, and Ryder and Kori puppies, I don't know how I would have made it through those dark days. This new pup can NEVER replace Sammer, but he/she may help your hearts to heal.
ReplyDeleteThat said, if you aren't ready, then just say no. Everyone deals with loss in their own way, and while your friend means well, if it isn't right, then tell her. Either way, I am wishing you the best!
I know how your feeling Stella Rose- very confused.
ReplyDeleteBut let me tell you--when my moms got me- well it was a very sad time-- and I will tell you when they held me in their hands- I started to heal their broken hearts immediately. I am glad they decided to say yes to me- even though it may not have been the right time- but they have given me sooo much love that I am thankful for.
I know your mom will make the right decision..... smiles are a good thing-,, doggy kissys are a good thing.
Your mommy knows what is best for everyones broken hearts.
Do you think this puppy came from an angel?

Oh, this should be interesting! Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI think your mommy needs to call that crazy lady back and say "Don't bring that puppy to my house, please respect that we are still grieving"
ReplyDeleteMason
Oh goodness! Holy Crack Head Batman..... What is that woman thinking? There is a more tactful way to ask if you would be interested. (I mean, verses shoving it down your throat!) I know she thinks she is helping, but the conversation did not go well at all!
ReplyDeleteWe can't tell you what to do, but we know that you and your family will make what ever choice is right for you. We wish you luck and will be saying a little prayer for the puppy.
Frankie and Ernie say it best "Don't smell the puppy breath" 'cuz then your sucked right in :)
Hugs,
Lily Belle & Muffin
I have no opinion on this it could be good or not. Hmmmm. I support whatever decision comes from this. Good Luck! Keep posted on what happens :)

Oh Stella, we don't really know what to say to that. A puppy needs a nice new home, and I am sure having a puppy around will make you smile :) We know you are all still grieving BUT I'm a sucker like Dad :) Oh let us know what happens.. xx00xx

Dogs aren't things to be given like gifts. What happens to the puppy if you don't take it? Is it returned like a toaster? This is a living creature.
ReplyDeleteWe are sure your mom's friend means well but this attitude is partly why puppy mills and pet stores exist. Because people buy them on a whim like a pair of shoes. People put more thought into buying a pair of shoes than they do a pet.
We are hoping for the best outcome for all if you. When you are ready, you'll make your own choice about who to add to your home. Maybe it will be a puppy that will take up a lot of time to potty train or maybe it will be an older dog in a rescue. Only you can make that informed decision based on your lifestyle and what you can handle.
We say follow your hearts. If your hearts are ready, the puppy will come.
