SHARING AGAIN

I wanted to tell you the story behind this video and what happened last week only 20 min. from where I live.  A call came into a rescue agency here in Iowa ...the caller was concerned about animals outside in this freezing cold weather and she thought the neighbor had to many animals.  The local sheriff's office went out to his house to find the WORST hoarder situation Iowa has ever seen.  I am not trying to be morbid or graphic but it has affected us deeply.  There were over 200 animals found, some were wild, some were exotic and others were domestic.  Dogs and cats.  Most were frozen to the ground, while the live ones laid upon them. The house that he lived in was full of animals running around, there was no heat available. It was tragic and heartbreaking.  I also think it shows that humans can shut their eyes to others suffering no matter if they two legged or four legged way to easy now days. So I wanted to make or say something that showed how incredibly BRAVE those animals are, and how strong they are to come out of this still forgiving and loving the next human that comes along.  I think Rescue's give us so much in our lives for the little that was given to them.

Mollie helped me put the song on here that I originally wanted to post.  So I am sharing it once more.  Thank you.  Deb

  2. That is so terribly shocking and sad. We hope those that were alive are safe and warm now and will be found good loving forever homes. Have a fabulous Friday.

  3. Such a heartwarming, emotional video. Thank you for sharing.

It's so tragic when animals are so badly mistreated and suffer because of such stupidity as displayed by the "hoarder". What are these people thinking? It's true...we have 10 little ones in our pack but each one is loved unconditionally and cared for 200%. (We even had to get a king-size bed and a large sectional sofa for the little guys...while me and my husband sit on the floor or hang on to the edge of the bed for dear life while 10 little bodies take up the rest of the bed) :)

  6. Our tears were running while watching your video. I agree with you, situations like the one you described are tragic and heartbreaking. My mom once helped to save animals from a hoarder, it was the worst moment of her life and she never can forget what happened there. I hope the people of the sheriff's office could help those animals. Thanks for a great post, it was very touching, but we all should know what kind of things can happen in our world.

  8. That's horrible. We're happy some of the animals were rescued. Hoarders often insist they LOVE their animals. But just don't show it.

  10. It always breaks Momma's heart to hear about situations like that. How can someone claim to love an animal and treat them in that way? For the survivors of that rescue, we hope they find their forever families very soon. Reading your sad news on the hording situation and then watching the video made Momma's eyes leak.

  11. True hoarding is very sad. It's like so many other mental illnesses. Very misunderstood and with tragic results. One thing I have learned in rescue work is that we never really know what's going on in the mind of people. Many times, people are too ashamed to ask for help. Or they are afraid of losing their animals. They may think that their animals are the only creatures that love them. People who take in rescued animals have big hearts. Sometimes those big hearts get in the way of our heads. As much as we want to take in every animal that needs a home, we have to realize our limitations. Money, space, time. Sometimes, our hearts were in the right place but it gets out of control. Especially if the animals aren't spayed and neutered.
Since the man didn't even have heat in his house, he probably got overwhelmed with all his animals. My mom lives out in the country and sees people drop off dogs and cats on a weekly basis. Maybe he was trying to take in animals that were dumped off. And it got to be too much.
Hopefully, the animals who survived can find new places to live and the man can get the help he needs.

  19. We just don't get hoarding like that. =( We are so grateful for people who manage to get those pups and cats into loving homes, and get the hoarder some help so they don't do it again.
