Oh my pugs, I came home from work last night and there was a package laying with our mail, and when I picked it up I swear I heard some laughing and scratching on the box. WELL I about dropped it out of fear and astonishment but I was afeared the pugs who were a circling my legs, would grab the box and run; Because you know ALL boxes that arrive at our house belong to THEM.
Well, I held the box for just one more minutes, and then bravely I put it up to my ear and listened and all I heard was quiet. So I carefully sat it down, because apparently I was going bat poop crazy and just as I walked away, I heard that scratching, scratching noise and another chuckle. WELL, now I KNEW for sure I was nuts. But I then saw where it was postmarked from, and my heart just jumped for joy cos I knew you had sent someone very very special our way.
Because I am also a child at heart, I just could not leave the box alone EVEN though I knew it was not for ME. I carefully opened the outer wrapping, my hands shaking just a little maybe from excitement but maybe from fear and THEN I opened carefully the little white box, and asked, " is someone in there???". NO noise. The pugs looked at their momma like I had grown an extra set of horns, or something weird and then they all sat down on their fat little pug behinds as if they had received a special message ONLY they could hear.
So I carefully unwrapped the little white wrapping so not to tear it, or leave any evidence to MACEY that her grandma could not wait on HER to open that package, and there waiting for me to see was the most beautiful little creature on earth!!!!! A Fox. I laughed and he smiled, and the pugs stared. I said, "how do you do?" and he replyed, " well it was the most long trip across the pond, and I was getting a little worried that I would never finds your house, but I can tell from your stare and surprise that you must be the GRANDMA. He also stated that he did not belong to me, and that it would be best if I remembered that, that he was sent from the most special cottage in the world to a little girl who needed him more than the moon might need the stars.
WELL, tears fell on my cheeks, cos here was this beautiful little red fox, with his head and legs, arms a moving, and with his beautiful coat, taking on the responsibility for his whole life to love a child. My grandchild.
I hugged him tight against my face, and whispered that I must put him back just one more time, because on Thursday night (tonight) Macey was coming to my house, and I needed to make sure she felt the magic of opening the box just as I had. Of course being a fox, he immensely understood. He nodded, yawned, and fell back to sleep.
All the while the pugs frowning and turning their head this way and that, trying to figure out just who this new guy is, and will they need to share their food bowl with them????
Later I told Butch, I so wish I could take him out again, and sit in right in the middle of my bed. Butch just looked at me, and reminded me that I have my little old bear, that soaked up many tears, and felt many hugs. Of course he was right.
So tonight we will get the camera out, and tomorrow this wonderful story will appear on our blog. Once again proving to the world the friends we make through our blog are some of the rarest finds in the whole world.
(Reading the card that was attached to him, Macey is getting ready for dance)
(Macey listening about how he traveled so far to find her)
Thank you is not enough, but thank you Michelle, you have proven the point that love and magic can travel together and land right in your heart.
(After a good night sleep he is wide awake and ready to play with his new sister)
