Stella Rose Update

Apparently Stella is refusing to eat, so the Doc. called and said I could come get her at 5:00 when I get off work, and take her home (we only live about 6 blocks away) and bring her back in the a.m. for him to check her out.  He thought once she got home she may calm down and eat a little and hopefully keep it down. He said she has been doing this pug scream thing...you pug mom's know what i am talking about.  He said it will take awhile to get her back on the "well" road again and that we will have to watch fat levels etc. in food and treats.  He said he would talk to me more when I picked her up.  We have always fed her good quality food, (BB) so it must be in the treats.  I give her fruits and veg. and watch what she has. This has been a hard lesson learned by us for sure.
Thank you for all your good thoughts, words and prayers.  If you don't hear anything from us over the weekend then you know she is doing just fine...and I will talk to you guys on Monday.  If something changes then I will blog.
Deb

  1. There's a great food that Wiggs was put on - I want to say it was Science Diet that was low fat. Eventually, Mr. Stubborn refused after a bit, so now he's on a homecooked diet. Wiggs takes Flagyl to combat the flareups but for a while he was on Tylan powder - both work really well. Pancreatitis is manageable Deb - hug Stella and I'm sure she'll be the perfect pug patient for you :) I'm so glad you guys caught this early!

  3. Poor baby. I know the pug scream. It can be a joy or it can be heart breaking.

Where the treats chicken jerky? Those make dogs sick often times.

Take care of yourself too, mom.

  4. Hi Stella Rose's Mom
I went on the treat website and noticed they have a lot of wheat and cornmeal in their treats. Those are not too compatible with we PUGS' delicate systems. Unfortunate that a good cause became the cause of such worry. I sure hope Stella is back to her normal self by tomorrow. Give her a buddy high-PAW from me!

  9. So sorry that this happened because of trying new treats. When George had his UTI, I had changed him from Science Diet (full of Grain Weightloss) to Blue Buffalo Wilderness...then he got his troubles. So...now all the pugs are on Science Diet (Grain Free--Finally they make one!!) Natural Balance and George no longer has his UTI. Just must be Stella Rose can not have high fat treats.

Pugs: Wesa bet she willsa be upset to hear about that one. Please send her our condolences.

    Much Luvums,

  15. I'm so happy the docs figured out what's wrong and that Stelka was able to come home for a while. Even quality foods can have higher fat contents than others. Payton needed a low fat food because her gall bladder was removed. Look for anything with the primary protein source is white fish. Payton ate Honest Kitchen Zeal. Also, Minnie the puggle from Minnie and Mack's Daily Digest has pancreatitis so you may want to get some tips from her mom.
    Love and prayers,
    Christy

  16. Now we are worried about poor Stella!! We will cross our paws. We did not know she was sick because we were out of the loop. Our mom would have melted down too. Actually she would have melted down and dried up if we got sick. Please give Stella a pet from us!

    Your Pals,

    Murphy & Stanley
