REMEMBER ME..THURSDAY
I read Sugar's http://www.sugarthegoldenretriever.com/ post this morning and I asked my Mom if I could write another blog for today. She said that is was just fine. It's something Mom and I have been talking about lately and after we read Sugar's post about shelter dogs and all that have lost their lives and all that are still waiting for homes, and leaving a candle lit for them, well this is what I think.....
I think humans have turned their world into a "Disposable World" because it makes their lives easier. Throwaway dishes, diapers, towels, napkins, plastic bottles, coffee cups and the list goes on and on. It does make it easy, but it also has serious consequences like over flowing landfills....clean up is expensive and there isn't any monies. It also creates a mindset with some people that nothing is much worth keeping. Like us four leggers. Thus, the need for shelters and dogs and cats waiting on their forever homes.
That is how we came to live with our momma is we were threw away. I had a soft spot that wouldn't close and my eyes are weird, Maggie had scratches on her eyes, and well Baby Gussie was a scary fright! WE were headed for the trash can (or life in the basement). I bet alot of you out there was in the same scary situation and then your Momma or Dad came along, and picked you up, cleaned you off and took you home. FOREVER.
We don't know what to do about this heartbreaking situation. We have shelters that are good, we have people who rescue, we have organizations that help, but it grows and grows everyday. I think until humans change your definition of disposable it will always be a battle that is barely won. Everyday there are pictures posted of the cruelty we as animals suffer at the hands of a race that is supposed to care for us, but everyday there are also victories won, and forever homes made. We have no answers, tonight we are gonna light a candle like Sugar said, for all those still waiting and for all those passed.
We are hoping this post did not offend anyone cos we loves you all.

Oh, Stella Rose... this was a PERFECT post and so very true. We need to turn it around. You three (and Sam, and Trudie) were so blessed to find your forever Mom and Dad... and we need to help others find theirs, if we can. Great post!
ReplyDeleteHi Stella Rose, We've got so many friends in common and I see you all the time, so I decided I must follow you. Looking forward to getting to know you and your mom better. As for rescues, until we got Hunter, we've always rescued dogs. This time though we decided to go the other route and find a dog that also needed a good home. It breaks my heart when I see all the dogs that need good forever homes. You are right about being in a disposable society-it goes deeper than that though-marriages, families, kids etc. are all thrown away when life gets to tough. I'm glad your mom saved you all.
ReplyDeleteSending wags your way.

Stella Rose, you are so right. We agree with you 100%. Not only is everything disposable, but people just wanting more and more stuff when they could really get by with less.
ReplyDeleteWe say, less stuff and more love.

PS ... We've been thinking about all of you today! Can't believe it's been a year since Trudie went to the rainbow bridge...
Very well said! Yes, we don't understand how people just quit their dogs. How can they do that? it says something about them.

Stella, you are completely right. What a super post, of course you needed to write it, and it is completely true. In fact, Eve went to the SSPCA centre on Monday to ask if she could go there for work experience (she can't, she's too young) and ended up looking at all the forlorn and confused doggies and cats. Some weren't the prettiest, but she wanted to take them all home. Those horrible neglecting folks need to learn a lesson.

Stella Rose, you hit the nail on the head. Yesterday all day on face book I read on the news feed story after story of how our society is not treating our fur babies. I feel until people take ownership and responsibility it is going to continue. I pray daily that God will protect our fur babies and those that are caregivers and protectors. Maybe one day, people will open their eyes and change. I am so glad that your Mama saved the three of you. Our lives are blessed by having had a chance to get to know you even if it is through blogville.

Hi Stella, I think you got everything right in your post. I am very glad that your Mama and Daddy saved you and your siblings.
ReplyDeleteHugs from your friend in NJ, Patty
You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this
ReplyDeletematter to be actually something which I think I would never understand.
It seems too complex and very broad for me. I'm looking forward for your next post, I will try
to get the hang of it!
