Sausage Gravy

(This is not a picture of MOms gravy)

My Dad loves sausage gravy and biscuits.  Mom decided on Sunday to surprise him with it for breakfast.  She realized right off the bat she was in trouble once she looked in the refrig.  No sausage...so she substituted hamburger, ...no white flour..so she substituted wheat flour, no salt...so she substituted some other spice....the canned biscuits were okay though....as soon as mom saw how her creation turned out she thought, "ought oh".  Dad cooks for a living.  Mom is a robot and hardly cooks at all.  Its hard to pass "bad tasting food" as "good tasting food" to Dad.  Dad took one bite of Moms gravy and spit it out.  (He did eat some biscuits though so all was not lost.)  Later Dad went down to the gas station and bought him some REAL sausage gravy and biscuits.  Mom told him it came from a can and there was no love at all in the cooking!!   Mean ole cat Dietzman ate all of MOms gravy and we just got to watch.

  1. There are THREE of you ... you need to stick together and stand up to mean ole Dietzman!!! OR your mom should share with all of you ...

Our mama can't cook either! Well - that isn't exactly true ... she cooks for us but never cooks for dad!

  5. Biscuits and gravy from a gas station?! Your mom's must have been real bad if the gas station ones are good. (Sorry to your mom). And after all this you got NOTHING?! I say you break into some of those treats you have been receiving so you don't stave. OR just get in your stroller and find that hill and push off. You should run right in to my place. I have plenty of drinks and more than enough Cheetos and other yummy stuff to share.

  7. Ohhh, biscuits and gravy, sounds yummy - even if it comes from a Gas Station. Although the steak sounds better - hope it's a T-bone and you get the bone to naw of after dinner. Sorry Stella, mom's been a bit nuts lately, just mailed your contest treat box for SERPA (and you) this morning. You should get it in a couple of days.

  10. Bawhahaha! This sounds an awful lot like my mom's cooking. She is always misreading recipes and substituting ingredients - sometimes things turn out OK, but most of the time - yuck!

  11. Omigoodness. I LOVE sausage gravy and biscuits, but I wouldn't dare try making it. Gravy and I don't see eye to eye. Your mom is a better woman than I.
